Cross a rope bridge over the river to see for the first time the task ahead of us! 1200 ancient stone “steps”, irregular foot-holes nearly vertical. I could never have got up (and down) these without the help of one of the Magic Tour Colombia local guides, Brian.

The near-vertical 1,200 “steps” were terrifying. A sheer wall to cling to rather than steps in any sense of the words we use. Then, we had to descend the cliff after our visit. Absolutely the most terrifying thing I’ve ever done, including the bungee! My feet are in a horrific state and my legs both swollen to my groin!! Still, Lost City is a wonder of the world (in my opinion even more amazing than Machu Pichu) and inhabited. However, I would not recommend trying to get there unless you are a confident climber and very fit.

We were lucky to be granted an audience with el Mamo, the local spiritual healer.

We then had to return back along the trail to Wiwa Camp, a long tough day. I am grateful to Dary and Walter (Magic Tour Colombia) for their help along the high edges. I made it in before Dary, although some did not and were helped in by team mates with head torches.
