Day 8 Yosemite to Sacramento

We left Yosemite regretfully, so beautiful – we could have spent far longer there; trying out different swimming holes, exploring the boutique museums, trying a family round of golf with the magnificent backdrop.

The highway stretched straight into the city and we caught site of the stately Capitol building. Our hotel is central and we have a high storey corner room with two views from which we can glance the Capitol.

After some shenanigans with BT to try unsuccessfully (for now) to get credit P’s phone is used to connect with a friend of mine from twenty years ago – well why ever not pop to Sacramento from Twin Falls Idaho? It was fun to see the Capitol and explore the Old Town with an American guide and R is as large as life as ever – great that he’s changed so little but extraordinary that when we met at the medical student/doctors’ bar in Charing Cross we were both students and now he is newly retired and I’ve resigned my partnership!
